Caamaño & Ameixeiras

Caamaño & Ameixeiras are a Galician folk music duo from northwestern Spain — two musicians carrying forward the vocal and instrumental traditions of Galicia with the energy and seriousness of a generation that sees folk music as a living practice, not a museum exhibit. Their work draws on the polyphonic singing, percussion, and modal melodies of Galician tradition, performed with a rawness and physicality that connects this music to its roots in communal celebration, labor, and storytelling. The duo — Sabela Caamaño (chromatic accordion) and Antía Ameixeiras (violin, percussion, and vocals) — are based in A Coruña, Spain.

Galician folk music shares deep connections with the Celtic traditions of Ireland, Scotland, and Brittany — a kinship rooted in geography, history, and musical structure. Caamaño & Ameixeiras bring those connections into relief without reducing their music to a Celtic tag. What they play is distinctly Galician: the vocal harmonies, the rhythmic patterns, and the melodic shapes all come from a specific place and tradition. Their albums include Aire! on Segell Microscopi Records (2021) and Quitar o aire on Raso Estudio Records (2023). They have showcased at WOMEX, Montreal Mundial, and Babel Music XP.

People of Rhythm represents Caamaño & Ameixeiras for bookings in the United States and internationally.
