LUKE VIBERT
Legendary UK electronic music producer, Luke Vibert has been making a wide range of music for the last 30 years. Ranging from his signature brand of acid house, new disco, electro, techno, drum and bass, ambient, trip hop, hip hop and more. Keeping busy under various successful aliases include Wagon Christ, Plug, Kerrier District, Amen Andrews, Luke Warm, The Ace of Clubs. Each alias has it’s own cult-like following internationally. Luke regularly plays at various clubs and festivals around the world. The ever prolific, beat-making producer has recorded and released music for some of the most respected labels in the electronic world including, Rephlex, Ninja Tune, Mo' Wax, Warp, Astralwerks, Virgin, Nothing, Planet Mu, Hypercoulor, I Love Acid and now proudly People of Rhythm Records. Luke grew up in Cornwall, England with his music loving mates Richard D. James (Aphex Twin) and Jeremy Simmonds (Voaface) and they first dabbled into DJing and teaching themselves how to make electronic music in the early 1990’s. They have since become electronic music lendends and royalty and have made a huge impact and influence on many noted DJs and Producers.
POSTHUMAN
On recordings, Posthuman is an electronic music duo consisting of cousins Richard Bevan and Joshu Doherty with dozens of EPs, LPs and remixes to their release credit. Josh also DJs under the Posthuman name and is a highly sought-after DJ, playing regularly throughout Europe and now USA.
Josh is an authority on Acid House music and its history and regarded amongst the foremost champions and DJs of the UK Acid House scene.
Posthuman established themselves in the early 2000s as part of the London IDM scene with releases on the acclaimed SKAM label and their own Seed Records. Josh established and runs the Balkan Vinyl record label in addition to the highly collectable, vinyl-only, ‘I Love Acid’ record label. Since 2007, Josh has run the ‘I Love Acid’ club night, named after the track by Luke Vibert, who features regularly at the night and on the record label. After producing hundreds of events over the years, in late 2019 Josh (along with Luke) won the “Best British Club Event'' award by DJ Mag for all his efforts for the music.
JOHN METCALFE
London, UK- Renowned as a producer and arranger for musical luminaries. John Metcalfe stands as one of the most diverse and fearless musicians out there pushing the boundaries of lush progressive classical or string music meets beautifully crafted electronic and ambient music. Born in New Zealand, but John made his name in Manchester, when he joined cult post-punk band Durutti Column for many years and alongside Tony Wilson, Metcalfe launched the pioneering Factory Classical on Manchester’s legendary Factory label while simultaneously cutting his clubbing teeth clubbing and dancing at the great city’s legendary dance club, Hacienda. In recent decades, Metcalfe has been working with world-renowned artists across the entire cultural spectrum, honed his arranging and producing skills, collaborating with a steady group of iconic pop artists including U2, George Michael, The Pretenders, Blur, Sam Smith, Coldplay, and Morrissey. John’s work is also in demand from diverse artists such as opera superstar Andrea Bocelli, legendary Senegalese vocalist Youssou N’Dour, Radiohead guitarist Johnny Greenwood, and Neo-classical artist, the Max Richter Ensemble. Metcalfe’s long term projects and collaborations with Peter Gabriel found John as the leader of the New Blood Orchestra for over five years, releasing several albums together and touring the world many times with the innovative singer. Metcalfe even cowrote and arranged many song’s on Peter Gabriel’s recent Grammy Nominated i/O album.
As a solo artist Metcalfe’s own beautiful, spine tingling music explores electro-classical ambient soundscapes and the boundaries between genres and he has released several acclaimed albums on Real World Records. The latest being, TREE, a gorgeous album influences and inspired by nature and the 24 life cycle of trees. He recently released a three song EP of striped down remixes from the Tree album. His finely tuned beautiful and moving compositions are neat yet grand and lush in scale in terms of sound and the conceptual ideas underpinning them.
GANESH RAJAGOPALAN
Ganesh Rajagopalan is a heralded Indian classical violin maestro, renowned for his virtuosic tonal excellence and creative genius. Recognized as a child prodigy along with his famed brother Kumaresh, he began performing at the age of seven, achieving his 100th stage appearance before turning ten. Under the guidance of his guru, Sri T S Rajagopalan, he mastered the violin, earning the prestigious A Top grade from All India Radio.
With nearly five decades of experience, Ganesh’s musical journey has taken him to esteemed venues and festivals across the globe, including Queen Elizabeth Hall in London and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. His musical horizons extend far beyond classical Carnatic repertoire, as he seamlessly fuses traditional music with contemporary elements. Ganesh has composed original ragas, scored films, and collaborated with luminaries like AR Rahman, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Debashish Bhattacharya, Bill Laswell and Tabla Beat Science. In recent years he has toured the world and won a GRAMMY Award as a longtime member of Zakir Hussain and John McLaughlin’s legendary groundbreaking ensemble, Shakti. Ganesh also has his own jazz ensemble based in Seattle, WA.
As an educator, he has shared his passion at prestigious institutions like Princeton and Stanford, and he has founded music schools in Portland, OR and Seattle, WA where he now calls home. Ganesh Rajagopalan’s contributions to music continue to inspire audiences worldwide, solidifying his status as one of the contemporary masters of Indian classical music.
JANAKA SELETKA
JANAKA SELEKTA began his DJ career in the late 90s, spinning Jungle and Drum ‘n’ Bass at packed underground venues in San Francisco. His dynamic sets quickly gained attention, and over the years, he evolved to include a wide range of genres. Known for seamlessly blending different tempos and intensities, Janaka's performances create a fluid and immersive experience that truly moves the dancefloor.
As a multifaceted producer, Janaka is celebrated for his innovative approach to blending cutting-edge sonics and hard-hitting beats with traditional instruments from around the globe. Over a music career spanning two decades, he has consistently pushed the boundaries of sound, creating a unique fusion that resonates across cultures. His recent releases have earned widespread acclaim from both fellow musicians and global audiences, cementing his reputation as a trailblazer in the music industry.
Janaka Selekta has earned multiple accolades throughout his career, including being named Best (Vinyl) DJ in San Francisco by the city's largest newspaper, The SF Guardian, in a readers' poll. His band also won Best Electronic Act for two consecutive years, reflecting his impact on the electronic music scene. Janaka's original music and DJ sets, known for their intricate design and energy, have electrified audiences across the US, India, Europe, and the Middle East. Recently, he has been on tour with the legendary Asian Dub Foundation.
Janaka's band, Gods Robots, was signed to Sony Music India, and he continues to collaborate with top classical Indian and world music artists, producing cutting-edge tracks that blend traditional elements with modern beats, creating dancefloor hits that resonate globally.
ALAM KHAN
Alam Khan is not only the son of the legendary Indian classical musician and composer, Ali Akbar Khan, and who studied sarod with his father starting at age seven and continued until Ali Akbar Khan’s passing, but Alam Khan is also an artist and innovative composer and name of his own standing. His first public performance was in 1998 at the Spirit of India Festival that celebrated the Ali Akbar College’s 30th anniversary in the United States of America. He has performed throughout the United States, UK, Europe, India and all around the world. He also received a prestigious Individual Artists Grant from the Marin Arts Council in June, 2003. He is the main teacher at the Ali Akbar College of Music in San Rafael, California where he instructs the next generation of Indian classical music performers at the school his late father founded in 1967.
Alam has been very active as a composer, performer and recording artist and has released several solo albums and EPs and released a debut album with his father. Alam has been featured on various soundtracks and a featured guest for other artist’s albums such as electronic ensemble, Beats Antique, Blues and Jam band supergroup, Tedeschi Trucks Band, and Indian Dhol player Sunny Jain and rock legend, Chris Robinson’s Brotherhood to name a few. Even while Alam is an in demand sarod teacher and music instructor and has been composing more music for films and television. Recent albums and collaborations include the Del Sol Quartet bridging classical chamber music with Indian classical music, as well as a recent beautiful duet recording with Alam and his younger brother Manik each shining on the sarod.
No stranger to electronic music and hip hop music in addition to his Indian classical roots, Alam leads the group, Grand Tapestry which is genre defying collaboration with LA based rapper Eligh. The group has showcased at globalFEST in NYC and around the United States. Alam has played with just about every top tabla player of Indian classical music throughout the world, including a life-long relationships and deep musical bonds with Swapan Chaudhuri, as well as Zakir Hussain.
ARUN RAMAMURTHY TRIO
Arun Ramamurthy Trio (ART) brings together South Indian classical Carnatic music and contemporary American jazz. Boundaries are blurred in this organic and seamless integration of styles as the group expands on traditional forms in explosive, improvisational flights of fancy. ART explores the kindred spirit of raga music and jazz, resulting in a deeply invigorating and spiritual experience. Their sound is driven by the dynamic rhythm section of drummer and tabla player Sameer Gupta & and electric bassist Damon Banks. ART released their latest album “New Moon” on Greenleaf Music in 2024.
Featured performance venues for ART have included Jazz at Lincoln Center, Bimhuis (Amsterdam), Joe’s Pub, National Sawdust, The Jazz Gallery, Ragas Live Festival at Pioneer Works, Kennedy Center, Yerba Buena Gardens and more.
The similarities between American Jazz and Indian Classical music can often be found within the spirit of the musicians themselves. The shared artistic pursuit of carefully crafting a fluent, spontaneous voice, and the deep reverence for artists who came before are just two common threads between the kindred traditions.
The core of the Arun Ramamurthy Trio’s new album New Moon is the “New Moon Suite” - a 4-part work that reflects on the inspiration of ancestors, family and tradition, and how we navigate the world as multicultural beings, composed thanks to a grant from Chamber Music America's New Jazz Works program. Amavasya, which means “new moon” in Sanskrit, is a time to acknowledge and remember and pay tribute to the ancestors.
NILADRI KUMAR
Niladri Kumar is considered the maverick classical musician of India. He is a celebrated ambassador and an Indian music icon. A fifth generation sitarist, he is hailed as the most enigmatic and trailblazing musician in India across generations. His contribution to the world of sitar, Indian music, classical and contemporary is regarded by past and present legends as not just innovative, but deeply rooted in the traditional elements known of music. Under the guidance and years of training from the age of 4, under his father and Guru Pandit Kartick Kumar, Niladri has gained an in-depth understanding, technique and unmatchable mastery over the sitar and developed his own distinct style. His music is greatly admired and he has earned a large following of ardent listeners across the world.
Being ‘sympathetic to pick up' new trends, Niladri decided to push the boundaries and go beyond his comfort zone to invent his own instrument - an electric sitar that he coined as the 'Zitar'. Hailed as one of the serious exponents of Indian classical music on one hand and reinventing the contemporary modern space on the other, the Zitar culturally redefined the way audiences viewed Indian classical music. Sound has waves, but his Zitar created ripples. . The Zitar allowed him to express to a much more widespread audience, bridging the ‘age un-gap’ as he calls it – where individuals from all walks of life can tune in and find a place in his music, that they can call their own.
His music is inviting, explosive and yet introspective. With having featured in over 20 international and national albums, winning numerous & prestigious awards, along with unparalleled performances across the globe, and an immense musical contribution to the Indian film industry, Niladri is one of the generations brightest stars, with an illustrious and inspiring path for many.

RAVI SHANKAR : RAGAMALA TO ROCKSTAR ART EXHIBITION
A specially curated art exhibition focused on the life and work of late sitar giant and Indian classical music pioneer Ravi Shankar. Featuring hundreds of very rare items, concert posters, artwork, LPs, photographs, recordings and personal items. The exhibition is programmed along with special Ravi Shankar related events including film screenings, Indian classical concerts, music and dance workshops, artist and author talks and discussions. With a goal to help spread the love of Indian classical music and of course highlight the work, history and story of the incredible life of Ravi Shankar, the exhibition debuted at the South Asia Institute in Chicago in November of 2021 and received press and media attention throughout..

BOSTON UNIVERSITY’S GLOBAL MUSIC FESTIVAL - Saturday, September 16, 2023
People of Rhythm’s, Brian Keigher is proud to be the Co-Founder and Producer for the (six year running) annual, all-day outdoor BU Global Music Festival partnering with Boston University’s Arts Initiative Office. The festival takes place on the campus of Boston University each year with an average of 1,000 attendees. Each year, students and Boston area families enjoy eight to ten extraordinary international musical artists and bands, along with educational workshop events and a global bazaar – all events free and open to the public. RAGAMALA : A CELEBRATION OF INDIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC - Friday, September 20, 2024
People of Rhythm is the Co-Founder and Co-Curator of the annual, Ragamala showcase concert in Chicago with the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. The widely popular, all-night long concert (now in its 12th year) has become a staple and marquee event as part of World Music Festival Chicago each year. The eight to ten accomplished and rising guest artists selected and featured represent the music of the Northern region of the subcontinent, known as Hindustani music, and also the classical music from South India, known as Carnatic music.
